    Anyone put a name in this cloud formation in the Midlands today at 9pm? Fairly impressive even though the photos don't do it justice.

    Yea I'd say it was the back edge of the area of LP being lit up in the evening sun . There was a bit of lift that day but not much, I would think those clouds could be classified as Cumulus Congestus ( lower then Cb's ) and checking the wind charts for that evening shows some shear from stronger upper winds which I think would have lead to the uniform cloud tops, can see some being sheared off.

    Looks like a cloud form known as 'Stratocumulus cumulogenitus', though cloud level seem quite low based.
