Operation to remove eye lashes from dog

I was wondering does anyone have experience of this procedure?

We have a lovely 10 year old Springer who has started to squint her eyes in bright light. Inside in the house or in the shade outside, her eyes are perfect but outside in the light she squints both eyes depending on how bright it is.

My vet has checked her over 3 times but couldn't find anything wrong. She was on eye drops but they didn't make a difference - (supposedly this rules out an allergy). We went to a ophthalmologist who performed a range of tests and her eyes are fine for a 10 year old. The only conclusion was that her eye lashes are too long and in bright light they are going into her eyes. (We also tried an eye gel this week with no change.)

If there is only a few offending eye lashes the procedure will involve cutting them out but if there is a number then cryotherapy (freezing) will be done to remove them.

Has anyone any experience of this? Did you go through with this procedure or is there an alternative way?

    Thanks.
