Mk2 Focus clutch

    Looking for a bit of advice regarding a clutch in a mk2 1.4 focus. (2006 so I think mk2)

Moves through the gears no problem with the engine off, engine on is a problem to get it into first.
When eventually driving moves beteeen gears reasonably ok.
Also when driving, clutch seems to be slipping quite a bit, revs shoot up when moving off initially and when accelerating revs shoot up and as car picks up speed the revs come back down again.

I'm guessing the clutch is shot, and I'm hoping the gearbox isn't!! Would that be an ok assumption?

If it is the clutch, what would I be looking at for a replacement with an indy mech?

I've the same car. From a cold start this morning, it didn't wanna go into gear. When that happens, I pump the clutch a few times and it's fine.

I assumed that's normal, but I don't have any clutch problems, so might not be any help to you.

Yup sounds like your clutch needs replacing. You would be looking at around 3-400 euro from an Indy mechanic.

When the car is cold, so is the gear oil and sitting overnight it has settled in the bottom of the box so needs to be driven to get up to temp and brought around the gears etc. That's why you might be having trouble in the morning.

Gear linkage problem. With the engine switched off press the clutch pedal and move the gear lever through the gears, as if you were driving. Start the car but do nothing immediately just wait a couple of minutes until the engine warms up. You should then be able to engage first gear without difficulty.
