That's a daft price IMH. Must be funny ciggies he's smoking. The very early quite rare ones with "waterproof" on the dial go for much less, or did the last time I looked a few months ago. Outside of the proof/resist early ones they're not a rare watch and were produced in large numbers from 70-78 IIRC. Plus there are a lot of frankensteins out there.

That said maybe we are reaching peak Hodinkee? IMH there is most certainly a bubble in a fair few brands and models out there. The market has become very sluggish too. Fewer and fewer of the interesting stuff is coming to market, because collectors are flipping less than they were and the back of the drawer finds supply is drying up compared to ten even five years ago.

that price is mad, mine cost around 400

sold it on for around the same price

The last couple that sold on adverts were all sub ?400 but as the honourable Wibbs mentioned maybe it's the hodinkee factor? Mad price for that one either way!

I got an email this morning. My new BFF in Singapore is open to offers:D

    Meanwhile this

person in Portugal left the word Pogue out of the ad, still not exactly cheap, but better value IMHO than the one my new BFF has. If anyone is interested in the Portuguese one let Wibbs know and get this deleted.;)

I'm interested in the Portuguese one, great find. I've been looking at pogues for a while but was put off by all the frankenwatches (and rapidly spiraling prices) on ebay. If I was to go for this, can anyone recommend somewhere in Dublin to get it serviced?

TBH I wouldn't touch the Portuguese one with a bargepole. Chronograph issues alone would put me off. If the clutch mechanism is shot, good luck in finding a working one. And if you do they can go for 200 plus quid on their own. On top of that it's also missing the original crown which means the internal bezel won't turn as designed and really good luck in finding one of those. IMHO you should pass.

There's a chap who has emerged on TZ-UK recently (although I think he started originally on the Omega forums) who has started a podcast series by the name of Time4apint. One of the more recent episodes includes quite a lot about Pogues and there's some discussion on price.

    https://www.time4apint.com/podcast/2017/6/9/the-time-4a-pint-podcast-episode-11

It's worth a listen and though, the suggestion (in my view) that he is attempting to "do a Hodinkee" isn't always the guarantee of horological or journalistic accuracy, the fact that he starting off from a collector/forum contributor point of view is probably helpful.
