Smart Scales with App

Hi just wondering has anyone any experience with how a smart scales with an app is developed? I have an idea for an app that will use similar technology by weighing something but its not for loosing weight it's for safety that can hopefully save lives. Myself and my partner came up with something that we would like to get developers on board to help with or even to see if it's something possible to do.

I'd imagine it'd communicate via bluetooth, NFC or WIFI to the app....

Not sure if I understand your question, but if you take a weight sensor and pass the data to a bluetooth chip that can advertise a custom characteristic you'll have a bluetooth weight scale that works with all apps that can read BLE. Check this:
