Dog Won't Walk

Finn has now decided that he won't walk anywhere in the vicinity of home. He will go as far as the car but after that the anchor goes down and you have to either carry him or drag him (which I won't do). I think he just thinks 'Car = park = meeting friends, fun, no road noise. No car = no friends to play with, some road noise = not going'.

OH dropped in to take him out today and after carrying him about 100m he got to the bit where Finn usually walks ok, took his lead off (not on a road, obviously) and the dog immediately turned round and took himself home. OH of course will not take his lead off in future, but it's awful having a dog that won't go for a walk.

He cannot be bribed with treats and would definitely react badly to any remotely harsh methods. It's not so bad at the moment cos I can take him to the park in the car either before or after work but during the winter that won't be an option because it will simply be too dark. Any suggestions welcome.

Could you maybe start by parking close to the park by not at it.. and gradually build up the distance so your stopping closer and closer to home and build up how far he'll walk along the route?
I have this problem with Bailey and Lucy - Bailey will normally take a treat and move on but stubborn girl Lucy will dig her heals in! If there's two of us I can move on with Bailey and she'll usually want to catch up with him but there's been times on my own where I've just taken them home or changed routes completely when they won't walk up the hill rather than drag them both up up!

Can you feeding him only at walk? If you do, you must gradually increase a distance  from home. Perhabs, he will refuse to eat first time, but don't worry. Go to walk for feeding him and do it more long time than it usually need.
Can you walking in difficult places? Perhaps, walking in one place is not interesting for him.
Do you try to compensate lack of a walking? If you do, he can to wait for it)
    Sorry for my so-so English.

I've been thinking of driving to partway to the canal and walking him from there, but it doesn't really solve the issue of him not walking further than 10' out the door. He hasn't been the same since the bangers at Halloween

Bailey has took until April to walk one route without wanting to to turn around and go home after fireworks at Halloween.

    Sorry, I don't understand.
Has he been not-like to walk since last October? Is he afraid of fireworks or he doesn't like? What have you already done for decide this problem?
