can you recommend a medium sized car with 3 decent sized seats in the back that can fit 3 teenagers/adults and with the middle back seat having a proper 3 point safety belt (not a lap belt) - that is not a full MPV? Ideally available in petrol? Looking to buy a 2nd hard car, budget is limited at around 4 - 5K, ideally want a lowish mileage MPV but at this price range all the MPVs are around 200K on the clock so Im now looking at cars that will fit the 3 kids in the back without 3rd world war, in safety and some comfort, at the same price range - any ideas?

I am currently thinking of selling my 08 petrol Honda FR-V, and I imagine it will be in the 4-5k band.

It would be ideal for you!!

OP, a colleague of mine is selling a low mileage (think it's around 70k or 80k miles) 2009 C4 Grand Picasso 7 seater MPV 1.6 diesel in the Limerick city area. Has owned the car for 6 years and it's in good condition. The only reason he is selling it is because his 3 kids are older now so doesn't need a 7 seater. Asking price is more 7kish but if you're interested then PM me and I can forward you the donedeal link.

thanks but I think I would prefer to buy from a dealership so that I can trade in the older MPV we have....

Finding decent car dealers that sell €4-5k cars and take in trade ins of cars worth much less is akin to minesweeping. There is a cohort of absolute cowboys in this end of the market interspersed with some very decent honest business'.

Just make sure you research the dealer as well as the car before you buy and you should be fine.
