Doing an internship - am I entitled to social welfare?

    I'm just wondering if I'm entitled to social welfare? I will be starting a 6 month internship (sourced my college) later this month and it is unpaid. I don't have any other joh at the minute and have tried looking for a weekend job but to no avail. Am I entitled to make a claim for social welfare so I can at least get some sort of money to tide me over? Also, how would I even go about making a claim - can it be done online or would I have to go into a local branch?

    You need to be available and looking for work, so no.

    You can only get a Jobseekers payment if you are looking for and available for a full time job.
    As you will be working all day , you are neither looking for or available for a job, so you can't get a payment.
    There are no SW payments for unpaid interns.
