We've an unneutered male cat which we've half adopted. Not really sure if he's anyone's - he's been at the windows anytime during the day or night so pretty sure he's s stray. He 'breaks in' and sprays so we were thinking of getting him done and let him wander in and out with our other two cats, who tend to stay in at night.

Thoughts on whether it cruel to an older cat or if it turns out to be someone's?

Absolutely not cruel - the best thing for him. It should eventually stop him fighting, stop him wandering (so far) and stop/reduce spraying.

If he turns out to be someones? Shame on them for not getting him done sooner.

Good for you - it's an easy op for the boys - they don't need keeping in after, can go straight out.

Ditto on getting him done. 100% not cruel and even if he turns out to belong to someone else they should have had him fixed by now.

Unneutered he is more likely to fight and be injured and could be responsible for dozens of litters, contributing to the plight of unwanted kittens.

Get him done, he'll be much better off.

Get him done - it will be way more healthy for him.(and lots less smelly for you)
