    Just looking for quotes at the moment and unsure of what the going rates are. Here's what we are currently paying (small business):

    - WiFi contactless terminal - €23.95 p/month (18 month contract)
    - Debit cards: 0.42%
    - Credit cards: 2.28%
    - Business cards: 2.98%

    Is this more or less standard or are there cheaper alternatives out there?

    terminal should be under €20

    Debit cards are OK, but try 0.35%. Your rate is still cheaper than the cash lodging rate of the banks.

    Credit cards way too high. Shouldn't be more than 1.25%

    Business cards 0.5% higher than credit cards.

    Try BarclayCard - operated by paymentplus.ie Funds are in your account at 9am the following day.

    Your both getting sucking into the sales blurb of the Merchant companies.

    You don't want fees based on percentages, you need to agree flat fees.

    These are my current rates for the various cards:

    Visa Debit Cards
    €10 = 4c fee
    25 = 6c fee
    50 = 9c fee
    75 = 12c fee
    100 = 15c fee

    Master Card / Visa Credit Cards
    €10 = 7c fee
    25 = 12c fee
    50 = 20c fee
    75 = 28c fee
    100 = 36c fee

    Business Credit cards MC & Visa
    €25 = 43c fee
    50 = 77c fee
    100 = ?1.49 fee

    Roughly speaking my debit card fees, taking a €50 sample sale, are approx 0.18%, whereas standard Credit cards are 0.4%, and business credit cards are 1.55%

    If you allow the Merchant companies to dance on you they will. Try Payzone, they are by far the most competitive out there at the moment.

    Hope thats of some help.

    Average sale in our place is just over €20, so 0.3% works out at average 6c

    Credit cards we're 0.65%, so again about 12c and another av 10c for business cards.

    So about the same as your fixed rate system.

    Can I ask what merchant supplier you have .65% on CCs from ?

    Hi Ceiling

    If you could let me know I'd appreciate it.

    We troll all the suppliers yearly and have never seen % that low, and we are putting huge volumes thru.

    Thanks

    Did you get any joy with them, when you followed up?

    Currently with AIB, out of contract at the moment and want a contactless machine,
    what providers should I be checking out. AIB don't seem too bothered after contacting
    them a few times. Think Clover Mini is 499 for a shorter contract.

    Currently waiting on paymentsense & payzone to come back to me.

    Any prices from paymentsense and payzone?

    Anybody else got any up to date rates worth sharing?

    *bump

    paymentsense seem to have their rates on their website :

    Debit Transaction fee Credit transaction fee
    0.35% 0.80%

    plus terminal rental of €18 a month.

    I went looking for quotes from other providers today. Have gotten or am still waiting on quotes from

    CBE
    PaymentPlus
    IOCsave
    Bank of Ireland

    So far it looks like the flat fee offering from BOI is going to be the best option. Does anyone know of any others I should try?
