Anyone here use lightroom?

Hi,

I bought lightroom a few weeks back and I'm now trying to develop some presets.

I'm wondering does anyone on here have any idea what sort of presets I would need (outside of it being a good photo in the first place ) to achieve results like these?

I made my own presets, to suit my own photos and tastes. Makes it easier than relying on someone else's taste.

I agree that it's definitely the best way forward, it's just that their taste would also be mine. I wouldn't plan on sticking to it rigorously but just as a base and then edit from there.

Difficult to say with out the original image, but top one it just looks like the highlights have been taken down quite a lot, shadows increased and clarity bumped a bit. Shot was probably taken through polarized glass and the blue's have been bumped a bit. It has a bit of a cinematic look about it but with far more clarity.

Thanks for that, had a look and couldn't find anything similar but it's still a good site to know about.

I'm still figuring it all out but just dont know how those photos have that look.

I cant see why presets would be needed. Surely every photo is different!!

Well what adjustments did they make? I've tried to l recreate those colours and I can't!

Is lightroom mostly applying presets? I was going to sign up to it for a bit to try it but I've never used it before. I had assumed every phone would need to be worked on individually.

Not at all. Presets are just one of many tools in light room. You can download presets that are useful for quickly processing photos, but to be honest that's just a foundation. Mostly it's for adjusting levels in the photos to perfect the photo.

Lightroom has some great photo management tools too, for rating your selection and publishing photos etc as well as the whole import process.

Check out youtube tutorials, it's honestly the best place for that sort of thing because it stays current with what ever the latest version is (There's always new tips and tricks or tutorials). I've been using light room for a couple of years now, but I'm still learning things.

I bought the Version 6 (Non-CC) and am slowing working through it. I'm currently doing my head in trying to remove some shadows using the clone brush..slowly driving me nuts :mad:

Not LR's strength. Although you can push the heal/clone brush it's pretty limited tbh and is best for small discrete areas which need it. That sort of pixel manipulation is far easier and more effectively done in PS. But I understand that needs must.

I totally understand what you're saying, it's very limited. I might try doing it in GIMP with the help of youtube.
