I am already registered for ROS but it's probably been 1 year since I logged in.

Today when I tried to log in it asked for my Digital Certificate.

Does anyone know what this means?

Are you using a different computer than the one you originally signed up on?

When you registered for ROS you had to download a Digital Certificate. Its a .p12.bac file
Click on Manage my Certificates, then click on Browse or Choose File. In the pop up window click on Computer or This PC, whichever one it says. Then in the top right hand corner type in .p12.bac

Hopefully the file comes up, when it does double click on the file and it will bring you back to the Manage my Certificates page. Put in your password and click on Load Certificates, then click on return to login.

This will work provided that you are on the same computer you used to download your Digital Certificate or you haven't wiped it since.

The use of digital certificates seems to be an absolute pain in the rear. Every year, without fail, I have had to have mine reissued as there's always either some glitch with the browser where it won't load or it won't work.

Revenue really should move on to maybe using a 2-factor way of signing the forms with a texted pin or something. It's far too complicated for the average user.

It's even worse for those of us who are self employed and only need to log in maybe twice a year. You invariably end up with problems.

There's changes coming, still a Digital Certificate but hopefully an easier process.

I can't post a link because I'm a new user but on the Revenue website under the News section dated the 25/04/17 it gives a few details

It's the same computer but it's the one in work.

I'm wondering is things like that wiped when I log out as others use the same computer?

So I tried to log in on my phone with the same result, upload your digital cert.

Contact the ROS Helpdesk, they can Revoke and Reissue the certificate for you.
