The 2 opels to me scream ex hire cars.
The first opel says 14 seconds to 100. My god.
If you're looking at spending that much would you not look at something with a bit more power?

Op, why not just go to the UK yourself and buy there?

bear1. You could be right about ex hire cars but the Red Astra has alloys which I thought would not be that common on hire cars ? Of course a set could have been bought.
bazz26. For my needs I don't think it is worth going to the UK for a car. All I want is something reliable and not to expensive to run. Surely I can pick that up here.

You can but some of the car's you have linked to in this thread are on UK plates being sold here by private individuals for a profit. So your paying a middle man when you can go to the UK and buy the same type car. That's what I would be doing if I didn't have an old car to sell here.

Remember, just cause the engine is small doesn't automatically equate to cheap to run.
Low powered cars usually need to be worked harder when on the move which can negate savings.
If it were me I'd be looking at a little turbo petrol car.

Anybody know what kind of reputation Hyundai I30s have ?

With regards this AD (Hyundai I30 UK Reg but VRT paid) is there anything I should look out for on the Import side if I went to view.

If it has VRT paid why is it still on UK plates? Do a vehicle history check and confirm everything, sometimes wrote off cars that nobody would buy in UK are sold here to people unwilling to bankroll a ?20 car history check on a car costing thousands. Check for evidence the VRT was paid and that it was not VRT exempt, if it was VRT exempt it can't be sold for 12 months without penalties, not sure what happens to the new buyer.

Could be something simple like timing of photo?

There is more to hide showing the IRL plate than the GB plate

Anyways if it's taxed it's a non issue

Seriously, do you have shares in car history checks?? It's your answer to every and any question on this site.

thats scaremongering and absolutely no consequesnces to the new buyer, it's a tax matter between the seller and the revenue
