The brake pads worn indictor warning light appeared on my 2011 Audi A6 this evening. I presume it relates to the rear pads as my mechanic told me that there wasn't much pad left at my last service (Dec 2016).

How much Kms can I do before changing even though warning light has come on?

    Thanks

    There's no way of knowing.

The sensor is only on 1 maybe 2 pads. The other pads could be worse.

You will hear a grind occasionally if its metal to metal, You will hear ! When you get that or any front ''shudder'' Well, ASAP.
PS, Sometimes the brake sensor lead breaks and Earths against metal, causing light to come on, But overall Its maybe 60 or 70 euro in a quick fit place, Done in 30 mins and Bob's your Uncle. I suggest you go down that route.

As far as I know it's on one only. I had a look at the pads and there's still a few mm left. I think I will book it in the get them replaced tomorrow.

You gonna have to have them replaced sooner rather than later. There is never going to be a convenient time. I would do it now, you're only looking for trouble doing those miles. I mean the thing is actually telling you. What else do you want it to do? A second light telling now you REALLY have to change them? ;)

Perfect. Fast Fit or any of them have fixed prices and no tales of woe from the mechanic. I wish you well.
