Anybody know how to setup a VPN in my home (Sky ISP)

Want to access IP Cameras externally, and have learned that port forwarding is not secure and that VPN is the way to go. I have Sky broadband, with a sky branded modem/router. Has anybody had success in setting up a VPN with Sky? Thanks
