Changing from Sab to Edision

I'm changing from a sab triple tuner running hyperion 4.5 to an edision receiver running a different image.

I've a fair bit of stuff on the external hdd. Will I lose this when I swap it over to the other receiver.

I'm thinking that I shouldn't as I shouldn't need to initialise the hdd.

    Any advice appreciated

    Thanks

If it is running hyperion 4.5 the files will be recorded in .TS format which is a common video file. The Edision should have no difficulty with them. What may confuse you is that the HDD itself is probably formatted to the linux EXT3 or EXT4 format which a windows PC wont readily read if you try to plug the HDD into a PC. If you really have to, it is not a big deal to copy the videos off the HDD to a PC either by coping over your network or by install drivers on your PC to allow it to read EXT3/4 HDDS.

Change over done but I cannot seem to get the hdd to work.

    Don't think it's mounted even.

    Any help

The receiver can see the hdd when I go into storage devices but it won't mount.

Am I right in saying that if I initialise the drive I will lose my recordings

    No dont initialise.

What image have you on this ?

If its Vix go into Vix, Mount Manager, Green and set up the address for the hdd as /media/hdd. Save and hard reboot the box.

    Didn't work.

Any thing else I can try

I've a saorview tuner plugged into the back usb and the hdd into the front.

    It's an external powered hdd

Will doing an ext3 to ext4 conversion fix the problem

I had originally assumed you were doing like for like ie removing an internal hdd sata and installing it as same.

You are now describing a sata drive loaded as a usb drive.

What format is the drive in orginally ? If you are not sure load it on a PC and make sure that its not NTFS. If it is there is a plugin for NTFS in the extensions menu. Install that and then go through the motions again. Make sure you hard reboot the box with the drive connected afterwards (that means turning the box off and on at the rocker switch rather than just restarting enigma.

Do not convert from EXT3 to EXT4.

It's an external hdd formatted to ext3
