Commuting from Rush on the 33X

I'm thinking of moving to Rush and will need to commute into Dublin city centre. I work in the IFSC, very close to the Custom House, so the 33X bus looks like it may suit me.

Does anyone here have experience of commuting on the 33X from Rush or thereabouts, and would they be willing to answer a few questions?
    • How reliable is it?
    • To be at the Custom House by 8:30 am or earlier, which bus would I catch in Rush, and at about what time?
    • How sure would I be of getting a seat?
    • Would I be sure of a seat on the evening service (18:00), too?

Any answers or other information would be gratefully received!

    Thanks!

I get it occasionally from Rush. I get the one at about 08:14 from near Chapel Green. The bus usually arrives on time and RTPI is fairly accurate. It gets to Samuel Becket bridge about 08:55. Sometimes there's traffic on the bit of the quays from the Point onwards. This might add on 5/10 minutes or so.

Coming home then, i get the one from near Samuel Beckett bridge at 18:02. It drops me off at around 18:45 at chapel green. Bus usually arrives at the same time (latest i've seen is 18:06). Usually no traffic problems coming home.

I've never NOT gotten a seat yet. Although coming home it tends to be fairly full by the time it gets to Samuel Becket bridge.

Generally i'm pretty happy with the service, except maybe for the traffic on the quays in the morning.

The other option I use is the train which i find pretty good, but you'll always be standing going in in the morning.

Thanks, Paulj - that's exactly the sort of information I was hoping for. It all sounds very positive. I'd possibly want to get an earlier bus in the morning but I expect that would make the traffic lighter if anything...

    Thanks again.

If you look at the Swords Express website you can track their buses. If you have a spare half hour you can watch how long it takes to get along the quays from the Point. It can take nearly a half hour some days.

Ow, that's not so good. Thanks for the tip, I'll try watching their website. Maybe I could walk from the first stop after the tunnel -- that seems to be around the convention centre, which would be about a 10-minute walk. Hmmm... We'll see.

    Thanks for that.
