    Hello,
    Can anyone recommend a android app for making international calls ? I need to call a few shops in the uk on their land line.

    I think the only way around ringing someone off your phone via data, would be to purchase a VOIP service. Sort of like Skype.

    Yeah, Viber out or a calling card. I use Tesco calling card to call NZ landlines for 1c/minute. Most people who have a reasonable Virgin broadband package would get calls to the UK from the landline included.

    When I was living abroad, I found Viber quite variable in quality when ringing back home.

    I found Skype the best for calling landlines and very cheap.

    Whatsapp, viber, skype

    I'm not sure what currently uses the least data, but for reference, I made a nearly hour long (58min) voice call on whatsapp and it used only 16mb. I've called on 3g+ which was fine but it's obviously best on 4g or wifi.
