Saved Files Disappeared

    I recently changed to a Microsoft Surface running Win 10.

    In the last week or two, I have noticed that files that had saved successfully have disappeared.

    Strangely, I saved a number of document files as .doc files and then also converted them to pdf's to email them. Those files are also missing. I have checked the email and theu are present as attachments but the originals are no longer there.

    I also saved a very important document about a month ago and when I went to open it yesterday it couldn't open and appears to be corrupt now.

    I use Open Office but save files as word files for convenience.

    I also checked the settings to make sure that show hidden files box is checked.

    I am wondering is there an update that has affected anything.

    A virus scan reveals no infections

    Any ideas?
