The stage is wavy, with a few technical climbs in the first part, such as Aprica and Passo del Tonale after the start from Tirano. A long drop then takes the peloton across the Val di Sole. The route goes up again in the second half: first comes the Giovo categorised summit, then comes a long false flat up, leading all the way to the finish in Canazei (already three times stage town). The route climbs slightly in the last 5 km, on wide and well-surfaced road, with just a very short descent 1,000 m before the finish. The home straight (450m) is on 6.5-m wide asphalt road.
A day for the Breakaway riders, as the GC men and their teams take it 'easy' ..

This is such an odd parcours with the categorised climbs towards the start of the stage and the really long false flat for the second half

On a completely random note, my first ski holiday was to Passo del Tonale a couple of years ago. It's a great spot and the scenery is beautiful! :)

    Breakaway day id imagine ?

That false flat looks like a brutal run in if you are tired.

Breakaway at 8'55 with a large group at 2 something. No panic in the peleton.

i think you have to forgive him that.........his role is to keep all viewers, regardless of knowledge, up to speed and informed.

And in fairness... It is a long day to keep talking....!
Could be worse ... Imagine what Carlton Kirby talks about on a long day for the "pelotonn" ... :p

I like how they swap out Kelly and Smith throughout the day and usually have some banter about the "super domestique" when Kelly goes for the coffee or ice-cream.

Was just thinking earlier, don't think we've had a wet stage or any rain at all for that matter this year?

Rob Hatch discussing during yesterday's stage how he struggled up part of the Stelvio was quite amusing. As was the story about Smith and Kelly looking for a place to get a haircut. It helps to build up rapport and draws the audience closer, as well as filling up time during long days! :)

Also, it gets editted down for the highlights. I think it's a good set up, once its Rob Hatch not Kirby. Even triple jump bloke is ok in the highlights.

Need to do two things now once the Giro is over,

    1. Get a Bora cooker and 2. Book a trip to Israel that add is oddly convincing ;)

Well Rolland deserved that the amount of attacking he has done in the Giro

The couple of glances over his shoulder on the way in and as he was committing to the celebration were funny like he couldn't believe it. Really happy for him.

I got one recently. They are indeed great.

Pure and unadulterated objectification of women as a means to boost tourism. Disgusting.

    1. Get a Bora cooker

I agree completely, but only if Sagan is there to tell me "You'll love this cooking revolution" when it's installed.
