The missus car failed on a couple of things that means it's to go up on the ramp and so a paid retest (exhaust mount and steering rack gaiter that just needs to be shoved back in to place and clipped). Thing is, when I go online to book the retest it's coming up as a visual retest and so no booking needed. I'm thinking I'll sort the bits and chance rocking up, then play dumb if they question it. How likely am I to be turned away or will they just do it and let me pay the retest fee?

Book the test. If it tells you there is no fee then there is no fee. The tester won't care as payment is done directly online in a lot of cases and it's not like they're going to be out the cost of it if you were incorrectly told there was no charge.

It doesn't let you book a visual retest. It just says no booking needed.

In that case just show up. They may just let you in between two other people.
