Anybody where I could lay my hands on a bottle or two of Morgans Spiced rum. NOT Captain Morgans. There is or was a bottle that has a blue cap with a black star on top and a small white label with the words Morgans Spice on it.
It's been a while since I've seen it anywhere and IMHO it tastes a lot nicer than the Captains stuff!

Where did you used to get it?

It's the same thing. In 2011 Diageo had to rebrand it because the rum content was too low for it to be labelled as rum in some jurisdictions.

As BeerNut says it's the same thing, same bottle, just a different label.

Thanks for the reply. If that is the case then how come Amazon and whiskey.co.uk have bottles for sale? They're just not shipping to Ireland.

whiskey.co.uk doesn't seem to exist. Are the Amazon listings from third-party resellers? If so I'd guess it's just inaccurate listing. Like this is listed on Amazon as sold by DrinkSupermarket but I don't see it on the DrinkSupermarket website.

Since the rebrand to Captain Morgan's the only time I see it labelled as Morgan Spiced is in Asda's up north and the like.

There's the link for the 2 I've found. I misspelled the whiskey.co.uk link in my previous post.
If a poster seen it labeled as Morgans Spiced in asda up north then is it only in the Republic that it was re branded? Are Captain Morgans and Morgans Spiced side by side on shelves?

Perhaps Creamy Goodness could tell us when he last saw the old label. It's not on the Asda website now.

No, all the press I saw about it was in the UK, like this. I don't recall ever seeing the older label in the Republic.

The reseller is Click n Drink. The 1.5L bottle on their website is the new label. They do have the 70cl one with the old label, but I bet that's just an old image since there's no separate entry for the 70cl new label bottle.

This looks like a poorly-hidden deep link. If you go to the home page and browse or search from there it doesn't seem to show up. If you even click on "spiced rum" in the breadcrumbs you get this page which doesn't show it.

It was roughly February 2016, up in Asda in Newry. I'm up again in July and if I remember and this thread hasn't reached a conclusion I'll check again :).

Thanks BeerNut, that's a fairly comprehensive reply. I've only ever purchased it here in Dublin, it's been a while in fairness. I guess the only way to know for sure what label they are selling is to actually buy a bottle but with the postage being nearly the same as the price of the bottle I think I'll give it a miss.
@Creamy Goodness, that's a coincidence my birthday is actually in July!

You could email them, the amazon link had a description saying captain morgans too, so seems even more likely it is just the wrong image being used (common enough). You would also be liable for exicse & VAT.

The Captain Morgan PR people would likely know too. They're on Facebook and Twitter.
