    Hi all,
Looking to buy a good tyre shine. The product I use at the moment does not last very long on the tyre-fades quickly. As always I appreciate the advice.

Tyre dressing recommendation is a tough one....
    - people have differing tastes; glossy wet look versus darkened matte look
    - a dressing that works very well on one tyre can seem very poor on another

Its finding what is right for you - but to help, I like these...in no particular order, just as they come into my head
50Cal Cammo, KKD Tyresol, CarPro PERL, Meguiars Endurance Gel (but buff it down very well so it doesnt sling everywhere)

Megs Endurance is very hard to beat.stays good at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Which of the above that ye have mentioned gives a glossy wet look and which gives the darkened matte look?

Megs is a nice rich glossy finish

I was thinking of the glossy finish alright to see what it would be like- what do you usually use to apply it?

I use a cheap yellow foam applicator or put some in a bottle cap and apply with a small 1/2" paint brush. Make sure you wash down the tyres first and let them fully dry. Apply very sparingly, you'd be surprised how far it spreads.

Does the glossy finish last long on the tyres?

Bought Megs today- applied it and i am very happy with the glossy look- will see how it wears over the next few days.

It'll wear quite well, but if youve a light coloured car, watch out for sling - greasy / oily spots up the sides behind the wheels.

Don't be fooled by the Megs gel, a little does go a long way!

Sound. I have noticed it on parts of the alloys today(probably used too much and didnt buff it properly)- will keep an eye on the paintwork over the next few days.

I'm a fan of Endurance gel too. It's an awful product to work with but gives great, long lasting results. I find it best to wipe down the tyres with an old microfibre after application. It tones down the glossiness and I've never had any sling to date.

You can also buy the Megs Endurance applicator pad which i find very good for applying, i have a white car and haven't had any problems with the sling problem

Do any of the following give a gloss finish-50Cal Cammo, KKD Tyresol, CarPro PERL?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,675 ✭✭✭ronnie3585

I use PERL now and again and really like it. I find it best applying it neat. It's lovely to work with, goes on very easily and leaves a nice dark, matte finish. My only problem with it is longevity. As it's water based it just doesn't have the longevity of something like Megs Endurance which I can get several weeks out of.

I use Autosmart Highstyle which I purchase off eBay UK (around ?7 for a 1 Litre Bottle)

It's silicone based so leaves a nice long lasting shine.

I pour a small amount into a bowl and apply to the tyre using a paint brush.

Results are fantastic! would highly recommended it.

Just wondering how does it perform after a few days of wet weather?

It's very durable. Especially if you apply 2 coats.

I also find that the more you use it, the longer each application lasts.
