Ok, so I hope this is the final word on Canyon's funky headset. Either its a flawed system or I'm doing something very wrong.

Canyon owners! When you remove, then re-attach, a stem to change it or for travel... do you need to re-adjust the little setscrew on the Acros unit or do you find that its OK and there is no play in the bearings?

Basically, can you pull the stem off and put it back on without disturbing the Acros unit or does it need continuous adjustment?

Multiple adjustments wear out the setscrew from what I've found.

    Thanks.

Before you take the stem off, make the little screw come out a bit. deflate the unit, as such. Like it is in the pic.

Then when you have the stem re-attached, and the bolts tightened, re-inflate the unit, turn the screw in. if you use spacers still it's the difference between them being able to move and being locked tight.

It's just a finger tight thing btw. Once the spacers are tight and not moving, G2G.

[edit] based on the pic, that unit is deflated, when you do it right to lock back in, it should point at the middle or far left notch. If when tightening it wants to go beyond those points, you didn't compact down the Stem enough before you tightened it.

What I do,when I remove headset for cleaning or greasing.
I loosen the screwset, then put stem on, shove it down by hand, tighten the stem bolts and finally tighten the screwset until there is no play in forks and still free movement of steering.

I emailed Canyon this when I was dismantling for travel. They replied "You do not need to adjust the headset if you remove the stem or move the spacers on the stack height."

I've a stem to change too, I'm slightly wary of it TBH

Wonder why did Canyon choose this set up anyway

    Weight, that simple.

    And it's good too.
