    Hi all,

    Need to sell my Ford Mondeo 2008. I have an ad on carzone for last 3 weeks but no one had contacted me. Mileage is low at under 65k miles. Good condition inside and out. Asking €5450. Any pointers? Is it getting lost in the volume of second hand cars there are for sale at the moment? How can i improve my chances of selling? Should i advertise anywhere else? Any ideas much appreciated.

    Post up a link to your ad and we can give you a few pointers.

    Two immediate concerns (and I could be wrong) are "carzone" and "€5450". Donedeal is still the classified leader for cars of that age and price and 5450 sounds steep for a ten year old Mondeo.

    Not a bad attempt but a few pointers;

    Your photos aren't great, try to to a wide open area and take the photos of the car from a lower point of view and try to take one of every facing of the car.

    I'd try to get rid or at least mask that damage on the rear bumper, even if you got rid of the white marks with a touch up pen it would help first impressions in the ad and in real life a lot.

    The ad text is a bit generic, it's all "head rests, airbags, electric windows, power steering" and scrap like that that dealers use to fluff up ads that nobody cares about. Mention how long you've owned the car and if it has a service history mention that and if it's recently had any other money spent on it, mention that (new tyres, brakes, battery, is it taxed)

    Ultimately, your price is a little high. You have a long NCT and low mileage in fairness but it's in the highest 25% of prices for that model and age on carzone. There are plenty of similar cars, similar spec, similar NCT with a slightly higher mileage asking €4000-4500 and a price conscious private buyer will happily sacrifice a slightly higher mileage to €1000 off the asking price. @ €5500 you are competing with used car dealers and they will be offering a small warranty etc.

    This is a dealer, but their exterior photos are how yours should be.

    There's no mention of service history or when it was last serviced, also if you have changed the timing belt recently mention this as it would now be due. (I'm pretty sure it has a belt)

    Put it up on Donedeal too, far more of a market there for it.

    Well done for picking out the link to my actual car. Feedback was invaluable and much appreciated. Will do as advised re the photos description and will look at the price bracket too as well as done deal. Cheers all.

    It's too expensive imo for a start. 9 year old Mondeos are not fetching that sort of money. The low mileage will appeal but buyers will not pay that much of a premium for that at that age point.
