Anpost wants to charge me €39 for sending a 2kg parcel to the UK which I think is a robbery, are there any cheaper options? The parcel is quite big but it's light.

No! I made that mistake recently with something I sold on eBay and they lost the package   Getting a refund from them was like getting blood from a stone.

I went with Parcel Motel last Xmas and had no problems. An Post wanted €37 for a parcel to my friend in London. Parcel Motel did it for €15.

Lucky you. I will never trust them again. Not only did the paper trail vanish for what I sent them but their customer service was dreadful. Avoid.

An post send everything by air, usually on small parcels of 2kg there's no difference in price, but once it exceeds a certain size the "volumetric" weight comes in.

Same with every delivery service that uses air transport worldwide.

What you want is a road parcel service.

Dpd, Gls parcel shop, parcel2go, Nightline, are all examples.

Gls and parcel2go will be best value.
