    Hi,

I'm planning to get freeview. I currently have a regular dish. I'm looking for a cheap satellite receiver, whfich can record, I was thinking of getting an openbox, like that I can watch Netflix with it too.
My question is can I get an openbox without a sky dish, with just a regular one.
If not, what do you advice me to get?

    Thanks

What direction is your dish facing? What channels do you want to get?

Have a look on this site with your address entered, 28.2 is where the BBC, ITV, Sky News etc channels are located, could be possible to reposition your dish to face this direction if it is not already.

A Sky dish is just a 'regular' dish, although those used for Sky Q have a specific LNB type fitted, but you won't need anything like that for an Openbox.

As mentioned already, if the dish is pointed at the satellites broadcasting the channels you want, & everything is in good order, all you need to do is hook up your receiver.

Probably because Sky has installed most of them.

Yeah must be it.... I'm French, we don't even have sky in France, that's why I found it confusing, I thought it was a special type of satellite dish, but it's all cleared up now

    Thanks everyone :)

For the new SkyQ receivers the dish is the same but a new type of LNB is fitted as standard, a wideband LNB, which will not work with non-SkyQ receivers.
