Looking to change alloys as paint peel on them, 215/55/17 on them at the moment, if I move to 18 will 225/45/18 fit the arches as the current one and will the extra width put more strain on the car and how badly would mpg be affected?
Hope this is the correct forum too mods!
    Thanks

Your outside radius will be fractionally smaller than you have at the moment, the width difference is negligible so I can't see any issues with rubbing, assuming the offset of the wheels will be the same.

Thanks, so actually the 18" will not fill the arches as much as the 17s"?

Technically, you're only talking 1% of a difference, so they won't fill any more/less than what you have.
The tyres will obviously look smaller as there a smaller sidewall. Can look bad depending on the ride height.

What year Avensis do you have? 225/45R18 was a factory option on the 2009 onwards model.

    It's a estate 131 t spirt,

    Looking at these

I'll pro go the 17" as it will be a like for like change, why the hell are the genuine toyotone so expensive!

They look awful (in my opinion anyway). And the original ones tend to be stronger than the likes of what you're looking at there.

What alloys came with the car? What's the reason for changing?

Bought out of the UK and two of the wheels were resprayed(badly) due to kerbing and now they are peeling badly, was thinking grey alloys maybe these?
    Your opinion is valued BTW

Looked into power coating but at near 400 it's too dear, I can have those from the uk for around 700inc tyres

The tyres are Nankangs, not a great standard of tyre.

I would spend the money on a proper refurb over getting Wolfraces. You could always get them resprayed a grey rather than silver

Got these back and very happy. Coated inside and out and looking brand new, went for a shade darker that the grey they were, before and after pictures to follow later.
