Hi. I lost my medical card a while back so I need to get a replacement one. However, I'm after moving cities and I'm out of the Lexapro tablets that I was using so I need to get a new prescription.
I remember once I went to a dentist, without my medical card, and they were able to check the HSE website to find out that I do have a medical card. Is the GP able to do the same thing or will I need to wait until my card arrives?

    Hi
If you need them today, would you consider the out of hours Doctor for an emergency prescription till you can get your new GP to write one?

I know Mediserve in SCR Dublin will accept patients unlike DDOC where you have to be registered in the area.

I'm not sure of what city your in but most areas have this.

Explain you lost your medical card. Also, I'd bring along the box of my tablets with the label so the Doctor can verify your identity and dosage etc

If you've moved and you need a new GP then you need your new GP to fill out this change of doctor form

    https://www.sspcrs.ie/portal/medapp/changedoctor.pdf

Your new GP will sign it and stamp it and you send it in to medical cards ASAP.
