Was unemployed for the last 9 months, put my new job up on my account the day I started and just checked my cert there and it says I'm on a month 1 basis?? I am raging I didn't check it earlier in the week so I could ring them but just so I'm prepared what do I have to give them to get put on cumulative before end of the month aka payday? :(

I know nothing about payroll, am I going to get a teeny tiny amount of money because of this?? I was counting on being tax free for a bit.

It just means that your tax will be based only on the month you are in, i.e. a months income, a months cutoffs, credits, etc instead of taking the year to date figures.

They often do this when you change, take up employment, it means any overpayments will have to be applied for at the end of the year if not changed to cumulative by year end.

You can ring them to get the reason for being on month 1 basis.

If you been unemployed for last 9 months no need for you to be on week1. A phone call should sort it .
If by any chance you have medical card due tell them too.

That's what I thought, so it must be an error hopefully a phonecall will sort it out! I don't have a medical card, why would that make a difference to tax? I really should pay more attention to taxation, payroll, benefits etc :o

    Thanks!

There is a reduced rate of USC for full medical card holders
