My Epson TW6100 has begun to slightly flicker from dim to bright - so slight my wife doesn't notice but it is ruining my home cinema experience.

I have only used 1300 hours but I think it might be the lamp - can anyone recommend where I could buy a replacement bulb? I guess I'd prefer a genuine Epson bulb.

    Thanks

    Hi,

The Epson TW6100 has a 3 year or 3000hours warranty according to the Epson UK website so if your projector is within the warranty period and was bought from an authorised dealer (ie not a self import) I'd be contacting the supplier or Epson UK directly to get some support. The relacement lamp from Epson costs ?246, so its well worth pursuing your warrant rights.. Epson may make a goodwill gesture if its a little outside warranty, bearing in mind the comparatively low hours.

Before all that, are you running the lamp on Eco setting ? if so, try running it on full power for a couple of hours, then go back to eco - this often "cures" flickering, see here https://www.homecinemaguru.com/why-is-my-projector-flickering/ for explanation. This has worked for me in the past so its well worth a shot, your lamp should have loads of life left in it, Epson currently claim 10,000 hours in eco mode.

Hi - thanks for that - I tried running on full power for 6 hours last weekend but the second I revert back to eco mode the flickering begins again.

I bought it from Amazon.de - do you think that would affect my guarantee?

Thanks so much for your reply

    Hi,

Tough luck with the running on high power approach, I was pretty sure that would sort it for you. Unless you got a pan-european warranty when you bought it, its highly unlikely that Epson UK would take this on as a warranty issue - you bought it from Germany effectively - you have't said how long you've had the projector but I'd still get back onto Amazon and explain the flickering, that the lamp has a fault, they have a pretty good reputation for dealing with faulty items and may help out. If you bought from a third-party seller who use amazon for deliveries etc, the situation gets more tricky, you might be directed to them in that case.
