Weather in Rome

I've never been to Rome and have been offered free tickets to travel towards the end of next week (staying there for a few days). The only problem is that I would have to call in sick to work and get those days off. I am worried that if I travel I will get sun burnt or significantly
tanned, and that this will be noticed by my employer.

Does anyone have experience in being in Italy at this time of the year and know if it is likely that this will happen? I won't be going to the beach or anything extreme like that. Mostly just some sight seeing and a bit of shopping.

The easy answer is "yes the sun is feckin' hot there" , but really it just depends how long you'll be outside - I was in Rome for 3 days a week and a half ago and got a solid tan (and used sun screen about 1/2 the time). However, I did plenty of walking, outdoors for long periods, etc.

I'd either lather up or keep some longer layers on if you want to avoid the tan. Or just try and butter up your employer to bargain for a couple days off.

EDIT: also, just checked the forecast... 28 degrees with loads of sun for the next week, if you're anything like me, that's prime skin roasting weather...

So, it would be very likely I would gain a noticeable tan :( Buttering up my employer is unfortunately not a possibility, it's a rather tricky situation. Best to give it a miss I'm guessing.

SPF50 applied regularly and you will be grand, won't be noticeable.

How sure are you of that Atlantic? Do you have experience using SPF50 and not getting tanned? I'm worried because my skin is quite pale.

I used factor 50 thinking I'd come back from holiday the same colour I went but I definitely got a little colour. 3 days might be ok though.

Maybe wear long sleeves and a hat that shades your face. You spend all day outside seeing things in rome

Weather forecast for Ireland is to be the low to mid 20s by next weekend.

    Go, Rome is great.
    Sunscreen, and a big hat.

Put it on 3 times a day and you will be grand, perhaps wear a hat as you may sweat on your forehead with the heat and so sunscreen would be removed eventually.

You were outside in the garden while you were sick.
Much healthier getting yourself better in the garden on a nice day than staying in bed :)
