Commencement notice where no planning is needed

    It is possible that we need to submit a commencement notice for renovation works to our old dwelling even though according to Planning department, the works are planning exempt. I ask because our architect came out with something about a material alteration. She didnt clarify as we bounced onto something else but basically we are re -roofing our home with an identical new roof and doing a few internal changes.
    Could a commencement notice be required in this case?

    However, the question is; are you making a material alteration?

    I wouldn't be looking for a CN for these works.
    I wouldn't expect one to be lodged either.
