    Hi all,
I'll be mostly using the laptop for video editing, possibly some after effects usage too. Editing with Premiere Pro CC.

    Specs:
    On the Alienware:
    17.3 inch (1920x1080) IPS Full HD LED-backlit display, Anti-Glare
    Intel Core i7 (6700HQ) 2.6GHz quad-core processor (6MB L3 cache, TurboBoost upto 3.5Ghz)
6GB Dedicated nVidia GeForce 1060 graphics
    16GB 2400MHz DDR4 memory
    256GB Solid State Drive (M.2 NVMe) & 1TB HDD (2.5" 64MB Cache 7200 rpm 6Gb/s)
Backlit UK Keypad Alienware 6 programmable Macro module keys
OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit

    On the Optimus:
Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
    Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™ i7 Quad Core Processor 7700HQ (2.8GHz, 3.8GHz Turbo)
    Memory (RAM) 16GB Corsair 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 16GB)
    Graphics Card NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti - 4.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
1st Hard Disk 2TB SEAGATE FIRECUDA 2.5" SSHD
    M.2 SSD Drive 512GB INTEL® 600p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (upto 1775MB/sR | 560MB/sW)
Operating System Genuine Windows 10 Home 64 Bit

Both the same price. Which would you choose?

The graphics card 1060 vs 1050ti is better on the Alienware. It's about 50% more powerful.
Check reviews of these laptops for reviews of the screen for colour reproduction accuracy etc as you'll be using it for video editing.

Cheers, glasso. The Alienware does have very decent colour accuracy according to reviews. The Alienware is 6 months old, that's why it's not more expensive. But the PCSpecialist one comes with a 3 year warranty. The Alienware has the nicer finish. I am finding it very hard to choose.

The Optimus has a slightly faster processor and much better SSD and HDD storage, but I'd agree that aspects like battery life and screen quality should be your real focus if the prices are the same.

The graphics card is probably largely irrelevant, but even if you were gaming the GTX1050Ti is no slouch and is a very fast mobile card.

2400mhz ram vs 2133mhz would make a very slight difference in some cases, with the Alienware having faster ram.

If you mean the Alienware is 2nd hand, in that case I'd probably go for the Optimus. Hard to justify spending huge sums of money on 2nd hand items, I much prefer the peace of mind from buying new at those price points!

Cheers, TerrorFirmer. I am thinking the same. Just for peace of mind. I can always replace the RAM if I need to.
