    What is the most cost effective way to post a large parcel within Ireland or to the UK?

    It's a 13ft x 10ft persian rug.

    Roll it up, wrap it in plastic sheeting (available in builders merchants) and look for quotes from the likes of dpd / gls / Nightline.

    The problem is the weight - all couriers contacted so far have a limit of 30kg where my item is 45kg

    Then you need a freight company - try Johnson logistics.

    Tnt are another option - they have a road service to the UK. if you're based in Dublin their main depot is in Tallaght.
