    Hi All,

If anyone takes the above route could you give me an idea of your monthly travel cost, if you use a tax saver even better. I will need to be in DL by about 9am and will leave travel home for about 5.

I am looking at making the move to arklow and trying to figure out the best travel option. I'm guessing that driving will cost a fortune with parking as I dont think I have free parking there..

    Cheers

Monthly train ticket is €325, so Annual ticket should be €3250

taxsaver will reduce that by up to 51% depending on your tax bracket.

you could also drive to Greystones or Bray, the ticket will be much cheaper - there's free parking in Greystones (though that may change).

Thanks, is there much parking in Greystones?

    400+ spaces here

however it fills up, not sure how early. Also there is a proposal to introduce a daily charge, but there's some resistance to this in the town so it may or may not happen. Currently it's free.

There's a Dart every half hour to/from Greystones. At Bray it's every 15 mins, but you'll be paying for parking (it also trickier to get to from the N11 and you'll hit traffic).

Getting the train directly from Arklow, there are 2 trains that will get you to DL for 9; return trains are at approx 5, 6 and 7 from DL. It's a long enough journey but you'd have a seat in the morning so could get some sleep or some work done.
