Cigarette lighter replacement unit

    Hi all,

A combination of the missus and my five year old poking around (trying to dislodge a coin) the Cigarette Lighter/Power outlet has resulted in it no longer working.

Does anyone have any experience of replacing these units? I'm pretty crap at this sort of thing normally so don't want to make a small problem a bigger one, but don't want to get screwed at the main dealer either

I've found the unit I need on Amazon - is it a straightforward job or should I just go to my local mechanic?

    Cheers cm

It might just be shorted out.
    Did you check the fuse?

Depends on the type of car, my old 89 micra was just screw the old one out and screw the new one in and it was all working again.

Cheers lads - I actually looked at that video last night...your one's voice eventually sent me in to a trance :)

Must have another look later and see if I can make sense of it.

The unit itself doesn't appear to be obviously damaged, although a small part of the contact point looks to be slightly tarnished/corroded.
