Isn't it amazing. Spend your life sliding the slick rear of a monstrously powerful motorbike and a group cycle puts you in hospital :(.

Hope he pulls out of it.

There was substantial damage to the car and the bike frame was sheared so it must have been some impact.
Induced coma after surgery for 24 hours.
    Hopefully not another Schumi.

The car appears to be on the wrong side of the road for Italy, whether it remains at the point of impact or not is not clear.

The pics I saw last night were not nice.......a-la Scarponi's accident, the Italian media spare no detail. The roof and windscreen of the car were both badly crumbled and with the damage on the RHS, you would have to wonder how this happened. Another report I read suggested that he was slightly separated from the group of 14 when it happened. His mum and brother are on the way over from the US, but his girlfriend is with him - the coma is induced, so fingers crossed he makes a recovery.

A lot of MoroGP guys are fanatically cyclists. Cal Crutchlow is an excellent cyclist and was disappointed not to be able to take part in the UK National Championships this year - he regualry cycles with Cavendish.

I've ridden a motorbike for years, well before I ever learned to drive a car, and hugely credit it with helping me cycle safely. My reactions and awareness are massively improved because of it, imho.
I've always said that you can fall off a stationary motorcycle and injure yourself badly, so you really need to work on your ability to lessen the chances of an accident..
Hes one of the best around, so I'm sure this crash was basically unavoidable given the skills he'd have from his motorcycling.
    Hope he pulls thru.

Yeah, the F1 guys tend to cycle a lot to keep fit. And Eurosport/Orwell's Declan Quigley. :pac:

Loved Nicky's attitude/persona when I used to follow MotoGP. What do the yanks call it? "Stand up guy"?

Still in the danger zone by all accounts. Seem to be a huge amount of accidents such as this these days.

Very sad. Must have been a horrific crash, judging by the state of the car.

RIP - i followed him in Moto GP. He was a good racer and always exciting to watch - RIP.

I think many of the Moto GP racers train on bicycles - i have read of Valentino Rossi referring to cycling also. Ironic that he dies on a bicycle despite racing motorbikes for a living.
