Guys, I've just been offered this home charger.

Can anyone confirm if it is a decent home charge point?
    It's an ABL SURSUM EVSE562.

    Seemly 32A version.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

ABL are German made chargers, that have a very good reputation. All the ESB ecars provided (free) chargers are ABLs at the moment (16A but flashable to 32A)

Perhaps the one you were offered is one of these and the owner flashed it?

    Edit - I guess it's this one :D

    Linky

Even if it isn't flashed (I'd question the owner about that), at €200 it's pretty good value imho

kc, attached pic of my free home install rig as installed by e-cars.
the date on mine is from 2004, yours seems to be from 2016 so may in fact be an unflashed 32 A rig

Cheers guys. Didn't even see the adverts ad. Buying t through the owner on the EV Facebook page.

€200 is rock bottom. Still a good price?

Is there anyway to confirm its 32A? How would I check it or indeed flash it to 32A?

The 32A ABL , will have a breaker inside rated well above 32A.

The controller inside the ABL is the ABL Sursum EVCC http://www.conrad.com/ce/en/product/1170657/ABL-Sursum-EVCC
    manual available etc.

Notice the cost for the controller alone !!

The max charge current an evse can offer is set by the control signal the evse produces. The EVCC can be programmed to any number of currents and if the car has a big enough charger , the car will draw up to that maximin advertised current. What you have to ensure is all electrical devices in the circuit are corrrctky rated for that maximum current , that's inside your evse and outside it.

Is it ok to buy one if these units?

    I've a 24kwh Leaf with 3.3 OBC.

depending on how long you intend to keep the Leaf, a 16A CP would be sufficient

Yeah I thought about that alright but the charge points don't come up for sale that often.

I have had the same EVSE in use for about 2 years and it has been totally reliable. Just waiting consumer unit upgrade at house to go ahead to get the electrician to upgrade the supply side to 40A so that I can set the controller to 32A. We have no electric shower etc. so good to go even with the feeble 63A house supply.

The ABL already has a 40A RCBO installed from the factory, just throttled by software to 16A for/by ESB. There's a thread somewhere about the ABL upgrade to 32A.

my ABL is now 14 months old and working at 32A for all of that time, no issues , in use every weekday night , 1200 units per billing cycle

    Bought a home charger today.
Seller was a gent. Traded in his 151 SVE with 60k km for a Mini Clubman Diesel. Lovely looking in fairness.

Said he struggled to sell the leaf, had no interest in it at 13k. Ended up trading it for 12k.

Anyway here are some pics. I'm not 100% sure if it's 16a or 32a but it has 32a stamped on the sticker and it also has the 40a and 63a switches internally?

My leaf is only 3.3 OBC anyway though.

    Paid €200 for it.

Was reading about him on Facebook. Big discussion sparked about him going back to Diesel and not even Petrol.

What is this metal yoke connected to IS4020 40A plastic box?

Little power supply to work the lock in the socket

This is a standard ABl unit capable of 32A

It has a 40 A capable contractor , a double pole mcb ( mine has a rcbo ) and the abl surian EVCC

The socket has a motor controlled lock

On mine the programming interface is brought out to a flying lead rj45 connector. Bit this ones looks to have no wires as the programming terminals look bare.

    Manual online for the controller

Note that EVCC unit is about 325 euros to buy seoerately
