Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Killane Shield 2017

The Killane Shield is a knockout competition with a group phase. This year there are two groups of 4 (A) and 5 (B) teams. Top two in Sec A and B qualify for KO stages I think. See League Rules on LCU site.

Would team captains from Sections A and B be interested in posting detailed results (as in the leagues) to this thread? If so please reply, identify yourself and your team and we will do it. Otherwise we will have no record of the KO cups unlike the excellent record of league results on the LCU site.

    Ficheall abú!

Is it just four teams in the first group?

Second group is Gonzaga, Rathmines, Curragh, St Benildus and Bray.

St Benildus beat Rathmines 4-2 last night (as per the ICU results ticker). Don't have the full detailed scoresheet to hand unfortunately.

There were five teams in Group A on the email with the fixtures: Elm Mount, Skerries, Blanchardstown, Phibsboro and Inchicore I think. One of them must have dropped out.

    What?!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Unfortunately no skill was involved in this result. Walkover match

That's interesting. Are Gonzaga out so? Or is this covered by the rules?

Bray have withdrawn from the group btw.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Dont think so as it was a 6-0 walkover rather than a 6-0 default. That makes it very messy. Have no Idea where any of the teams stand so.

Just for reference, we are meant to play Gonzaga this weekend in the last round.

Bray gave us a 6-0 walkover and have pulled out of the Killane.

Has anybody gotten the St Benildus results?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

There have been no Benildus results other than the one at the start.

Match v Gonzaga not yet arranged. Not sure what's happening there.

Then we had the bye, and also Bray (which turned into a bye)

Curragh is the only other game, sometime early next month I think.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

    Curragh 2½-3½ St Benildus today.

There's two matches left now - Rathmines v Gonzaga and St Benildus v Gonzaga.

    The table is -

    Curragh 3-9½
    St Benildus 2-7½
    Rathmines 2-7
    Gonzaga 1-0

That's assuming Gonzaga's 0-6 walkover against Curragh is treated as such. It seems a bit unfair that Curragh can lose to both St Benildus and Rathmines, yet progress on account of getting a walkover. Gonzaga are more than capable of getting the 4½-1½ results against St Benildus and Rathmines which would mean they and Curragh come first and second. But I don't see anything in the Cup rules about it.

Ah I'm pretty sure the Curragh would have won 6-0 anyways. :)

It was nearly 6-0 in the league anyways. :)

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 2,165 Mod ✭✭✭✭L1m1tless

Ah sure I wasnt there that day. Makes a big difference. :p

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 7,265 Mod ✭✭✭✭cdeb

Rathmines 2-1 Gonzaga is a latest, as is St Benildus 2-2 Gonzaga.

I think that puts us and Rathmines through.

Edit - sorry; Rathmines need a half point more. Otherwise Curragh are through. Gonzaga are out

    Benildus 2.5-3.5 Gonzaga final score.

  • Registered Users Posts: 290 ✭✭Rathminor

    Gonzaga 1.5 Rathmines 4.5

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 918 ✭✭✭Ciaran

So that's Rathmines v Skerries and Elm Mount v Benildus in the semis then. I assume the group winners are at home.

Elm Mount 3-3 Benildus last night.

Elm Mount qualify for the final on tie break.
