In case anyone missed it Fingal County Council have just put their burial records on line.
    link
It's a simple site to use and it includes images of the burial registers too.

While I doesn't really help me, thus is a fantastic move. Would be great if the other county/city councils followed the idea

Yes, it would be great if it started a trend and others followed suit all around the country.

Glad they didn't have a chat with Glasnevin Cemetery before they put up the registers for free. The fees charged by Glasnevin are outrageous.

€8 for the whole grave record isn't bad if there's multiple people in it. I've made some good progress by the judicious application of just one €8 payment.

It is great that Fingal have made everything available free of charge but I have no qualms about giving Glasnevin €8 for a burial record and I've done so many, many times. Aside from the fact that the money I pay goes to the Trust, I have been offered refunds for any incorrect records I've paid for (though I've never claimed a refund), and when you do hit upon a good burial record they can be worth so much to your research than the €8 asking price!

I'm not a fan of Glasnevin's 'search' facility, it's much too confining. I'd prefer it to be wider /more general first and then possible to be narrowed down by the filters.

The Fees can be over prices, especially as sometimes it might say there are others buried in the same grave and when you buy credits etc there is not extra information. In saying that I had bought information on graves that in the end where not what i was looking for and they gave me 45 credits back!! so they are very fair.
