Welcome to the Creative Writing Forum.

This is a place to discuss all aspects of creative writing, from writing advice, to publishing, to workshopping prose and poetry.

Standard Boards.ie rules apply per the FAQ.

Special guidance for posting in this forum.

Constructive feedback. If you didn't like something try to explain why. Remember we are all here to learn from each other. It takes a lot of guts to put your work out there for the world to see.
Some tips on giving concrit here.

Receiving feedback. Please take feedback in the spirit it is intended. Remember that posters who go to the effort to give concrit have given up their time to read and provide feedback. That said, if someone is being dickish, please report the post.

Feedback is a two-way street. If you are seeking feedback from others, please try to provide some feedback to the community in return.

Adult content. This is a public forum. While a certain level of artistic freedom is allowed, pieces containing strong language, sexual or otherwise "adult" content should contain a warning in the title. If mods feel that this right is being abused or a piece takes things too far then we will respond appropriately.

Plagiarism. We take a dim view of plagiarism. Do not try to pass off someone else's work as your own. If you believe someone has stolen your work then report it to the Mods. For more on copyright see here.

Right to Remove. The Creative Writing forum is a great place to get feedback on work in progress. If you post a piece but later would like it removed then feel free to PM a Mod.

Promotion and Advertising. Boards.ie site rules apply (ie no Advertising), with two exceptions.
    1. If you wish to advertise an upcoming Course/Workshop you may do so in the dedicated thread. If you post outside of this thread you are opening yourself to a ban, per site rules. (Blogs should be shared by means of your boards signature)
    2. If you are a regular Creative Writing forum contributor, you may post with a link to your published book. Requests for reviews are also okay (as long as you're fine with getting potentially negative reviews!).
Cross-posting. Cross-posting between forums is not allowed by boards rules, however there is a special exception. If you are posting in the Courses/Workshops sticky, you may also post in the special What's On forum.

Anonymous Posting. Anonymous posting is available in the Creative Writing forum. Posts will not automatically appear as they need to be approved by a Mod first.

    Hi All,

We have tidied up the charter and clarified some bits and pieces. I'm going to leave this thread open for feedback/discussion for a while so you can tell us what you think.
