Google I/O... Whats next for Android Auto

So... Google I/O starts today... I just installed Android Auto in my car... & already there is talk of changing the experience to a full Android Operating System for future devices... Do you think the current devices will get an upgrade? I'm not keen on having to plug my phone in all the time, but the positive side effect…

So... Google I/O starts today...

I just installed Android Auto in my car... & already there is talk of changing the experience to a full Android Operating System for future devices... Do you think the current devices will get an upgrade? I'm not keen on having to plug my phone in all the time, but the positive side effect is that it makes it awkward for me to use the phone when I'm driving... So I don't. It'd be nice to have Google Assistant support in the car... and for the device to actually understand what I'm saying... It doesn't give you a very usable phone book, so you rely on voice communication to make a call... Basically, there are some serious usability upgrades requiired... Will these come via the app on the phone, or will I have to wait for Google to issue an update to Pioneer & then Pioneer to implement it?
