Just wondering what cameras are out there where you have no wifi. Im looking for something that would email me a pic when camera is triggered etc. Id have to go the gsm route. Id ideally like 2/3 cameras. Too many places getting robbed. Neighbours good trailer brought the other night. These drones are all over the place . There using them to check yards. The first one I see will get a bad ending

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.

I've used these type of trail camera, there's no flash of them. They're totally invisible if well hidden.
They can get through batteries particularly in a location where's there's a good few visitors. If they're not taking many shots they're not so bad.

They take two sets of batteries. One for the camera and the other powers the Sim card and sends picture messages ( if that's the type of set up you have) , it's the latter set that can be harder to keep live.
Some camera's only store the image to a sd card so are better on batteries.

Duracell lasts about 2-3 months. I was taking out the sim card to check on a laptop, I didn't use the video. But you need some big bale tape over the top to stop water getting in. Watch out for batteries corroding in them. As Genghis says, no flash, it uses infra red at night.
Another problem I had with it in the yard was black polythene warming up in the sun and triggering it.:o

We bought a decent trail camera for security here and I found it useless for vehicles at night.
Lights on the car saturate the night vision and the reflective number plates reflect the IR light and leave numbers unreadable.

Does anyone have experience of the battery powered Swan brand of security cameras. I see them in the store selling at 129 Euros?

Hi. Not sure if this is the right thread. I have a swannlink hard drive and 2 cameras. It can accommodate 4 cameras in total. Where can I buy 2 extras cameras without hard drive and do they have to be Swann?

Would 2 cheap cameras from China work?

IMO a boundary sensor activating a light, siren and or camera are the best deterrent.

I have two sets in place and they've sent a few unwelcome guests running.

Any camera on eBay will do once it can be connected to the dvr

That might not be true depending on the DVR.
There are many different standards for cameras especially for HD video, here is some examples HDTVI/HDCVI/AHD/CVBS. It's possible your DVR can support all of these and more but you need to check.
