Speed vans: was I caught?

I was driving out of a village where the zone was 50, to an 80km/h road. I was traveling at a fairly consistent pace of 70ish and only noticed a speed van about 50m or so into the 80km/h zone. What I'm wondering is was I caught? I've heard that the vans have a range of around 200m, so it could have easily caught me over the limit in the 50km/h stretch, but the van it's self was on the 80km/h area.

He's not interested in the 80 zone speed, he's on the edge if a 50 for a reason.

Sounds like you can be expecting a letter in the next fortnight, unfortunately.

The recommendation is for a detection van to be at least 150m past a speed change sign.

    I would suspect no ticket.

Can you give the village / location?

It was blackwater village in Wexford, leaving the village in the gorey direction

From your description OP, the only place I can see where the van could have parked is the entrance near here. If that's where it was, it was using 80km/h as the limit.

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

I hope you are caught if you speeding in the 50. My parents live close by here and at least twice in the last year we have nearly been hit by speeding motorists coming down into the village. Its 50 for a reason.

If the van is past the 80km/h sign, and in the 80km/h zone, then its using the 80km/h limit. The range is not 200m. Its roughly 2.5 times the width of the road, so give or take ~20m. You literally have to be sat on the van before you are caught. The set up is to catch people who were doing 80 in the 50 and drop the hammer up to 100 as they cross the 80.

If you were under 80km/h passing the van, you can sleep well.

I was doing about 55Km/hour in a 50Km speed zone. I managed to go past the van at 50Km/hour. Was I caught. The speeds quoted are the speeds shown by the speedo in my car.
