My Husband is a self employed tradesman.
I am a chartered accountant and so I do his books.

My question is - if we want to go for a mortgage in a number of years will the banks accept certified accounts if the accountant who certified the accounts is the persons wife?

Its not really a tax issue.

You might be better asking this in the banking forum

Also relevant is do you have a practicing cert, remember you are not allowed call yourself a chartered accountant when offering private services if you don't. Again not an issue for the tax forum.

You might need a set of audited accounts for a mortgage application. Obviously there is a self-review threat and a self-interest threat of preparing your own accounts for your own mortgage application.
