Bus Eireann have now confirmed that Route X33 will be discontinued from 28th May as they previously indicated a while ago because the route is not working out for them.

However as expected Translink have revised their timetable to cover the early morning service from Dublin with a different stopping pattern and a new timetable on the route will come into effect following the Bus Eireann services ceasing to operate.

Expressway #32 for Ardee, Carrickmacross , Castleblayney , Monaghan, Aughnacloy , Ballygawley , Omagh, Newtownstewart , Sion Mills and Strabane will additionally still operate 9 times in each direction.

See attached timetables for the new X3/X4 route for Derry - Dublin and an old one for comparison.

Its a big loss, but not insurmountable.

You can still get a bus to Strabane and catch the 32 bus that goes Letterkenny > Dublin. Its (probably) the next best option.

Is there not an Ulsterbus service on that route?

Translink = Ulsterbus.

The timetable I posted above is their timetable with extra services to help plug the gap by the cancelled BE ones.

For some reason BE never ran double deckers on this route whereas Translink ran some of the few they have.

This must be the longest bus route in the country they should give consideration to comfort.
