    hi
i got my sky installation yesterday in my new house.
i currently have skyhd only. so the installer ran twin cable from LNB
i asked him to add few more cables (more than twin) for future proofing for SKY Q
(i thought sky q requires more than 2 inputs)
he said current setup can be used for sky q later.
can the white twin cable from lnb be connected to sky q box later on?
i am just trying to avoid any new wiring in future...

I thought they were only installing SkyQ now?

In any case only 2 cables are required for SkyQ, one for full band H and one for full band V from a SkyQ or Hybrid LNB. What LNB did they install (pic)?

If you require Saorview at the main TV point later a separate cable will be required as the terrestrial signal cannot be combined with the SkyQ feeds.

thanks. will take a pic and share later..
i could see few empty points in LNB.. could be quad lnb
coming from old days where each lnb output gave one feed to sky HD, i thought the 2 cables mean 2 feeds only. my bad knowledge.

New tech, legacy receivers required a cable for each tuner incorporated into the receiver, limiting the number of tuners installed. This full band capture (FBC) technology allows multiple tuners to be incorporated while only using 2 cables from a compatible LNB, SkyQ silver has 12 tuners and the basic SkyQ box 8 tuners.

SkyQ also incorporates another tech called digital single cable routing (dSCR) which allows 16/32 tuners to be fed from a compatible dSCR multiswitch down a single cable for use in multi-dwelling units such as apartment blocks where the units may only have a single legacy cable from a multiswitch. All that's required is a new dSCR multiswitch to make each connected TV point compatible with SkyQ.
