Just thought should bring this to peoples attention, as may affect other buyers

I purchased an item from a seller on adverts, we agreed a price and I made a payment through paypal.

Only after I sent the payment did the seller tell me that he wanted more money to post the Item. When I refused to pay extra and pointed out that the price was already agreed, the buyer refused to send the goods.

I took my case to adverts.ie support and got speaking to a <SNIP>, explained my case to which I got a reply of it's nothing to do with us, we are just the market place, if you are not happy with this seller leave him negative feedback.

At this point the seller had blocked me from making contact with them, He refused to send me the goods, wouldn't / didn't refund my money all the while adverts staff are saying not our problem.

It took nearly a month working with PayPal in order to get my money back (it only went back in to my PayPal account today after the seller didn't reply to them) all this time the seller is STILL selling item's on adverts and only today accepted an offer on the goods that I had purchased.

Be careful people as if you meet a conman on adverts there response will be "Ahh well sure leave the bad feedback"

Below is a transcript of the correspondence with adverts,

    Mod Edit: <SNIP>

    Hi,
although I understand that you're pissed off, house rules (T&C) are very clear:
Your interactions with other users, including payment and delivery of goods or services, and any other terms, conditions, warranties or representations associated with such dealings, are solely between you and the other user.

Adverts.ie accepts no responsibility for transactions that take place on the site. While we reserve the right to monitor or to intervene in disputes between you and other users, we have no obligation to do so.

As with any web-based interaction, we suggest that you use caution and good judgment. If there is a dispute between you and any third party (including any advertiser), we are under no obligation to become involved.

I'm not associated with Adverts and not trying to defend them. In fact I'm not happy about the lack of buyer protection programme on their website. Adverts are not ebay and they don't provide any dispute platform. For that reason I only buy and collect in person from adverts.

At least Paypal got your money back. I'm pretty sure they've debited same and exact amount from the sellers account.
Be careful where you send your money to.

My kid wants a trampoline and I am looking for one with an outside net, they are not cheap. I saw a 13ft trampoline on sale brand new from an advert seller that has an online shop and asked a few questions. I get a reply back from the seller telling me to please go away im not selling u anything and then they block me!!!! I have a only positive ratings and don't think I ever left a bad rating for anyone.
    I am baffled.

Is this becoming normal practice where if a seller doesn't like the questions being asked or like omega42 the buyer standing up from themselves then they can be rude but then block the seller???

Lucky escape for me really as I can only imagine if i had spent a few hundred quid with them and there was a fault with the item I doubt I would have had any half decent customer service from them.

    .

I'd say it's related to the questions you asked. What did you ask out of interest?

Adverts.ie ways of working for sellers include that the seller doesn't have to sell to anyone they don't want to.

Some sellers can come across as very abrupt but just move on- life is too short.

I'm having that problem at the moment, with two offers from people who have no track record whatsoever. What's going on? Am very wary after a strange experience on Gumtree.ie many years ago which made me realise that you can get badly burned. Have refused many a buyer on Adverts purely because I don't like the sound of their offer. Possibly because I've been careful, my experiences have been entirely positive - I've met some great people.

Too many new accounts on Adverts.ie with no other comments and no feedback.

I have a high level of trust for an Adverts.ie sellers or buyers with a long standing account and plenty positive feedback. The rest I ignore. I've had loads of offers on my goods where the "buyer" has just opened their account. An obvious scammer IMO.
