Spare wheel for Mazda 6

Looking to source a spare wheel for a Mazda 6.

The car came with foam and an air compressor instead of a spare wheel.

Also looking to source the boot fitting that fits around a spare wheel as the current one wouldn't allow a spare wheel to fit in the boot.

Over the last 10+ years of driving I've had to use a spare a handful of times - but I like the comfort of knowing there's one there if needed

What Colm said, dont bother going to a Mazda main dealer, they treat spare tires like red headed step children.

You may need different wheel nuts for the spare too so don't forget to check.

They are like hens teeth, I tried every scrap yard on partfinder .ie last year and got nothing .
I got a new steel wheel on the web in the end, 60 yoyos though and I had an old tyre for it.

    2015.

The dealer was looking for a few hundred quid for a wheel & the foam surroud for it to sit into, from memory.

Got two in a scrap yard full alloy wheel with a practically new tyre for 200 euro each. Worth any thing not to be left on the side of the road somewhere waiting for pickup truck because of a puncture. Just turned in upside down in the boot and use the wheel as a storage bin :). No room under the carpet for a wheel in the well at any rate. The other lad here at work who I got the second wheel for actually cut a piece of light plywood and put it under the carpet over the wheel if you know what I mean. It does cut down on boot space though.

Dealer wanted I think 550 euro for a space saver tyre and foam.

Keep an eye out on scrapyards. I think I just got lucky. If I remember car was on donedeal for scrapping only about 3 months old. It looked perfect.

There are an absolute heap of cars with the same centre bore PCD. As long as they clear the brake calliper you should be grand. Obviously a larger diameter wheel would be best.

I would suggest a Hyundai i40 space saver.

That's exactly why they are hard to find ,the brake calipers foul on every other wheel even the older generation 6s wont fit (mine anyway gen 2 )
They never came with a spare and a scrap yard is not going to sell you an alloy on its own, unless your lucky and he hasn't a full set.

That's my experience anyway colm the generation 3 models may well match other makes though.

Finally got round to buying a spare. Got a brand new space saver with new firestone tyre, new car Jack & wheel brace. All came together as a package from a UK based motor dealer on ebay.

Cost €163 for the lot including shipping. Arrived today after ordering it on Monday.

Will have to check at the weekend that it actually fits.

Only problem now though is that the foam boot tray and spare wheel dont fit together!

Try your local scrapyard first, this will be significantly cheaper than a full new kit and often found unused
